What is classed as personal data?
Personal data is at the heart of the of the GDPR legislation. Personal data in a broad sense is any information that could be used to identify you (such as your name, date of birth, email addresses IP address, etc). Often, a single piece of information isn’t enough to identify you but using multiple pieces of personal information could be used to identify you directly.
What personal data we collect and why
We try and limit any personal data we collect to a minimum and aim to only keep this information as long as we feel is necessary. There are some instances where we are legally obliged to keep your information for a determined period of time (for invoices as an example).
Examples of personal information we typically collect when we do work for you:

- Company or place of business (if applicable)
- Addresses (location for the work to be carried out or address for invoicing
- Telephone number (if you request us to call you)
- Email addresses (if you request us to email you)

- Any information you disclose in the form
When you visit our website, we don’t automatically enable Google Analytics (you have to opt in but we do really appreciate it when you do) and your IP is automatically anonymised, meaning it can’t be used to identify you.
Who do we share data with?
If you use our services, we share your information by entering it into our cloud based accounts system (Xero). You can read their privacy policy here.
How long do we retain your data?
If you leave a comment on our site, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve and follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
We keep any email correspondence for 24 months by default (including contact form entries), and any invoices/ information relating to invoices for at least six years.
What rights do you have over your data
You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you at any time. This does not include any data that we are legally required to keep for legal or security purposes.
Where we send your data
The only data processor we use that is based outside of the EU is Xero (based in New Zealand).

We do link to other websites from our own website (such as Facebook etc). We cannot vouch for the privacy practices of these third party companies and urge you to read their privacy policy to understand how they handle your personal data.
We will periodically update our privacy policy as necessary to make sure we keep you informed of any changes within the business that might impact you.
